All told, I have over 30 years in the classroom, teaching all the sciences at some point or another. The bulk of my career has been at Chippewa Hills High School, where I currently teach AP Biology, Biology, Astronomy, Earth & Space Science, and Oceanography. I have been on the executive board of the Michigan Earth Science Teachers Association for many of those years, serving as president and the editor of The Michigan Earth Scientist. I and my students have been blessed with many opportunities to engage with scientists as part of the EPO of a number of NASA projects, including THEMIS, the Spitzer Space Telescope, and the MAVEN mission to Mars. I contribute back to my profession through outreach presentations at MSTA, NSTA, MDSTA, and MESTA conferences, and also by serving on content review teams for MDE assessment programs.
