Clinton Bartholomew graduated from Vanderbilt University with his Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology. He came to Michigan as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the lab of Dan Klionsky Ph.D. at the University of Michigan where he did anti-aging research and worked with Doctor Klionsky on a Howard Hughes Foundation grant to improve undergraduate education. Doctor Bartholomew has multiple peer-review research studies on the subjects of Cell Cycle Control, Vacuole Inheritance, and Autophagy; and has served as a peer-reviewer for biology education journals.

While at the University of Michigan, Clinton fell in love with teaching and made a major career shift to become a full time High School teacher. He received his Master's Degree in Teaching from Michigan State University as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow. He is currently the Science Department chairman at Jackson Preparatory & Early College where he has taught: Earth & Space Science, General Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Forensics. Clinton was named the City of Jackson's - Teacher of the Year in 2017. Clinton works intently on curriculum development projects with MSU where he is a fellow on the Carbon Time and Evo-Ed projects. In addition, Doctor Bartholomew works as the head mentor for JaXon Falcon Works (#6635) the school's FIRST Robotics team.
